Never once did Christ beg them to stop the whipping.
Never once did He plead with them to carry the cross
Not once did He call them names or resisted their painful humiliation
He endured
He pushed on to the end
And even asked His Father for His forgiveness
Because His wrath would have snuffed them out like dust
He did all this because of love
Love for us
Loved us enough to share all He has not just for a little while but for eternity
These are not just stories
The same Christ who endured this suffering
Wore a crown of thorns just for you and me still loves us.
Watched the nails get hammered into His hands and feet
He hung on the cross
Watched the soldiers mock Him
He is concerned about our every care.
He's consistent
He's dependable
He's not changing anytime soon
