The Decree

the decree
she believed
she believed with her very being her every fibre the promised land was hers and her children's
but the decree was passed
she did everything within her power to see it come to pass
she negotiated
bargained with God
cried at the top of lungs
shook her fists at God and like Moses her leader begged God to take her life for a life that didn't make sense
silent tears fell when she went thru the routine of the day
the decree was made
noone in that generation would see the promised land .
that meant not her but her children would .
so why live if like Moses said her bones would be cast over the vast desert after 40years of wandering the treacherous journey ?
she scolded herself for hoping after 400 years of slavery it would automatically happen she would see Canaan . she had a slave mentality not by choice and May not handle the riches of Canaan well she tried to reason.
her children would be better prepared for Canaan she comforted herself ;
but with no conviction .
it was probably against the law to have such lofty thoughts and wishes
but this was a desire from deep within her soul she could hardly repress. she had so much to live for : so much thirst for life so much passion.
there was little she could do but join the treacherous repetitive journey round the mountain till she died.
the decree was made.
noone would have sworn she mumbled . it was mumbling that got them this blanket punishment they wouldn't see the promised land
