A story is told of a very wealthy man who was also very righteous & was about to die. Now before he died, he spoke with God & asked if he could bring his wealth with him into heaven. God asked him why he wanted to do this & he answered that since God had blessed him so much, he felt he must share it with God. After much pleading & begging, God allowed him to bring what he wanted to heaven.
The man soon died & appeared at the pearly gates with a great number of treasure chests. The angel at the gate was somewhat surprised, for this had never happened before & would not let the man in. The man duly informed the angel of his special arrangement with God & the angel upon confirming this with God came back to let the man in.
As the man was walking into heaven, the angel asked him if he could take a look & see what was so precious that he had to bring it to heaven.The man seeming rather pleased with himself, popped open one of the treasure chests & the angel beheld a large number of pure gold bars. The angel, now even more surprised looked at the man & asked,
"Why in heaven's name did you bring pavement?"
Understand that God's ways are so high as compared to ours. What we hold as precious & valuable is used as pavement (the streets are made of gold) in heaven.
Seek God's standards in all that you do & you will be a true reflection of Christ.....
