Wedding Gifts Returned
I am looking at pictures of a beautiful wedding 20 something years ago. Oh! The pomp and joy was like none. Even until today its a wedding talked about. It was something.
The groom spent lavishly and they also received many beautiful wedding gifts that would help get the couple started on their new home and life together.
I had a ludicrous thought. What if one of the guests a year after the wedding was going on a trip and they needed some quick cash. They text the now wife of the couple who's recovering from the blessing of their recently born first born son, asking her for a refund on the voucher she gave them as a wedding gift.
Well it's not such a ludicrous thought cause something similar happened to me.
What if Christ took back our salvation because He wanted to give it to someone else? Or He took it back because He felt we no longer deserved it. Or it's warranty period was over. What if Christ took back that precious gift?
We really don't deserve the grace nor salvation Christs gives us.
But He gives us us lavishly anyway
We don't deserve His mercy nor forgiveness: a second chance
but He gives us anyways
We don't deserve to sit on the same table and Dine with the King of Kings but we do
We don't deserve to be coheirs with Christ but we are
The Lord has given us salvation for free, begged us with tears of love to accept His unconditional gift, not for His sake but ours. What love!
Thankful beyond measure for this unconditional gift today. and as I prepare to return the gift I was given conditionally, I can't help but smile knowing my God will return that 100 times over; because that's just who He is! nothing I do or say can change His unconditional love for me!
Love deeply
Give lavishly
Embrace God's love for you
