Celebrating 30 years of Utopia
1st February 2051
It seemed like a very challenging season.
Many of their friends and family had struggled and some even fell through the cracks in the uncertain times.Some even died. Or took their lives. It seemed bleak.
There seemed some reprieve as the plague was under control after two years of worldwide governments and their resources battling with it . It had affected every aspect of lives across the globe and you could almost hear a sigh of relief when the vaccine was now ready for distribution and dispensing.
Jabali, his precious wife Rehema, their best man Zack and his wife Dhahabu sat huddled, uncertain what the global mandatory vaccine meant for them and their respective families.
Ideally, it should have been repreive, but denial to take the vaccine also meant no access to the basic services from the public or private sector. No school, no health, no food, no electricity.
A good number of their friends and collegues had taken the vaccine and were enjoying the new normal. These four had not quite grasped the new normal and thus as they huddled together in the room of an unoccupied warehouse to weigh the alternatives, the tension was palpable.
No cells phones, no electronics . They were clearly aware their resistance had been picked up on the radar of the global, not even local intelligence.
Under the full moon that February night 30 years ago, they held hands in absolute hope as they hoped for a hopeful future.
As quietly, and as discreetly as they could, the couples got into their seperate family cars driving in a single file.
Just before they hit the junction that seperated the two couples, 3 black four wheel drives came out of seemingly nowhere, pulverizing the two cars. There was a 5 car collision. Witness say, the two family cars had blood flowing like rivers from beneath their doors.
Why didnt they just take the vaccine?
