Sara Laughed

Sara did what we do.

The only difference is that she laughed out loud .
She didn't really believe .

She'd waited so long for her promise to come to pass, she really didn't believe anymore . She was 90; way past child bearing age. All factors were against her.

She probably had a vision of being a mother to 10 plus children in her younger days. That's a fair wish for the wife of the father of all nations . As the years trickled by she was content with 5, then 3 then one. After a certain age and helping God along with Hagar, which didn't go too well, she dared not believe anymore . She didn't harden her heart towards God. She simply locked that ache in a pocket of her heart, switched off the lights to that room and locked the door behind her.

The problem of fertility wasn't Abrahams, evidently as Ishmael was here.  Then she was to blame and it wasn't going to happen. No great nations. But the promise had been made.

The pain that dwelt in her heart was real. the mocking from within and without was real too.

Abraham must have comforted her but his love for nor his pity could reach the core of her pain.

She'd tried all herbs all doctors, and travelled many miles probably to seek help probably.

Lets allow her skepticism ever so briefly when the angel promised her a son. Lets allow her a to laugh ever so briefly because we all struggle with the faith that the promise will come to pass.

But the promise has been made.

Our lack of faith, our skepticism , our efforts to help God along won't change that fact.

He is a promise keeping God.

Laugh not with skepticism but with joy .
His promise over your life Will come to pass
